The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed lower on Thursday, snapping a three-day winning streak. The blue-chip index fell 475.84 points, or 1.24%, to end the day at 37,983.24. The S&P 500 also declined, losing 1.09% to close at 4,122.02. However, the Nasdaq Composite bucked the trend, rising 0.52% to close at 12,409.09.
Tech stocks led the market rebound on Thursday, with the Nasdaq Composite gaining more than 100 points. Apple (AAPL) was among the top performers, rising 1.8% to close at $152.61. Other tech giants such as Microsoft (MSFT) and Amazon (AMZN) also contributed to the Nasdaq's gains.
In contrast, casino stocks were among the biggest decliners on Thursday. Sands China (SCHYF) fell 3.2% to close at $17.96, while Galaxy Entertainment (GXYEY) lost 2.7% to close at $21.10.
The market's performance on Thursday was in line with analysts' expectations. Many experts have been predicting that the stock market is due for a correction after a strong run-up in recent months. The DJIA had gained more than 10% since the beginning of the year, while the Nasdaq Composite had risen by more than 20%.
