Mavericks Fall Short in Division Race
Finishing Second in the Southwest Division
The Dallas Mavericks finished their 2011 regular season with a 57-25 record, good for second place in the Southwest Division. Despite their strong record, the Mavericks fell short of winning the division title to the eventual NBA champion San Antonio Spurs.
The Mavericks were led by future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki, who averaged 23 points per game. Jason Terry and Shawn Marion also provided strong contributions, averaging 16.3 and 12.6 points per game, respectively.
The Mavericks made it to the playoffs, where they were defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
