Brusselse Stadsbewegingen Hekelen Toekomstplannen Met Vier Nieuwe Torens In Noordwijk

Brussels urban movement protests future plans for four new towers in Noordwijk

Residents and activists say the towers will ruin the character of the neighborhood and harm the local environment.

They are calling on the city council to scrap the plans and develop a more sustainable vision for the area.

The plans, which were unveiled by the city council in March, call for the construction of four residential towers, each of which would be over 100 meters tall. The towers would be built on a site currently occupied by a low-rise office building.

Residents and activists say the towers would ruin the character of the Noordwijk neighborhood, which is known for its low-rise buildings and green spaces. They also say the towers would harm the local environment by blocking sunlight and creating wind tunnels.

The protest movement is led by a group called "Noordwijk Hoogmoed", which has collected over 1,000 signatures on a petition against the plans. The group has also organized several protests and demonstrations.

The city council has defended the plans, saying the towers are necessary to meet the growing demand for housing in Brussels. The council also says the towers will be built to a high environmental standard and will include green spaces and other amenities.

The future of the plans is uncertain. The city council is expected to vote on the plans in the coming months. If the plans are approved, construction could begin as early as next year.
